Up to three (03) medical attendants, such as close family members or friends, can be issued visas alongside the patient’s medical visa.
No, there is no requirement for medical attendants to be blood relatives of the patient. Close family members and friends can qualify for a medical attendant visa to accompany the patient during their medical treatment in India.
Unfortunately, medical attendant visas are only issued alongside the patient’s initial medical visa application. You cannot apply for a medical attendant visa if the patient is already in India.
Generally, medical treatment is not permitted on a tourist visa. Using a tourist visa for medical treatment could lead to visa rejection. If you require urgent medical attention during your tourist visit, you’ll need to convert your visa to a medical visa for treatment.
While submitting your application for a medical visa, please submit all the documents, including your previous treatment in India.
